This book honors the memory of the late Professor J. A. Atanda for his contributions to Yoruba

West Africa, exploring various themes on their cultural backgrounds, history, and institutions. The
editors are both historians: Toyin Falola teaches at the University of Texas at Austin and
Professor Dipo Olubomehin has served as the Head of Department and Dean, Olabisi Onabanjo
University, Nigeria.
